Therapeutic Approach

Noorayne Chevalier uses a combination of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy. These proven strategies are designed to help individuals develop positive solutions, and move forward into the present moment and future with confidence and optimism.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

SFBT is a result-driven technique that focuses on the present and future, rather than the past. With this goal-oriented technique, clients focus on creating a vision for the future and developing the skills, resources, and abilities needed to achieve that vision.

This method takes the approach that you already know what you need to do to improve your life, and with the right coaching, you can find real solutions within yourself. Using SFBT, clients identify and clarify their goals, and then together, the client and therapist collaborate to lay the groundwork for and create a plan for change.

SFBT is often used as a standalone therapeutic intervention, though at Chevalier Psychotherapy, it is used in partnership with other therapy styles and treatments.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

In this proactive therapy, negative thought cycles are challenged in order to develop more positive habits and patterns.

During CBT sessions, you and your therapist will focus on the thoughts, images, and beliefs behind your behaviour. You and your therapist will work together, collaborating to understand your problems, and developing new strategies for tackling those problems.

CBT takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. It is highly customized to each client’s unique needs, experiences, and goals; so every CBT treatment is different.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Therapy

Cultivate mindfulness, self-awareness, and emotional control through a variety of breathing practices and exercises that help clients stay in the moment.

By using cognitive methods and mindfulness techniques, we will interrupt the automatic processes triggering negative thought patterns, destructive thoughts, and even depression.

Through this powerful therapeutic technique, you’ll gain the skills to break from negative thought patterns that have caused damage to your life and goals.

So… no more focusing on problems, obsessing about the past, or worrying about your future struggles. Here, you’ll learn how to overcome symptoms of depression, anxiety, and any other of life’s challenges, develop a positive outlook on the present moment and future, and leverage real, actionable strategies that move you forward more fulfilled, energized, healthier and optimistic than before.
